|You can include ArtisanCam in your teaching in a number of ways, from classroom activities guided by the classroom workshop video clips to research using timelapse, techniques, influences or questions sections or using the interactive online learning tools. |Suky Best is an animation artist based in London. The video clips were made with funding from Cumbria and Lancashire Education Online. Thanks also go to the National Media Museum in Bradford
and the Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre in Lowther Castle, Cumbria.
The work of artist and animator, Suky Best can introduce or reinforce the following concepts: Through using the site, and being encouraged to discuss, reflect on contemporary illustration and by creating and modifying the work they produce, pupils will know, do or understand the following:
|The Suky Best timelapse section shows the entire story of the development of a new animation based around birds of prey. Suky intially visited the Lakeland Bird of Prey centre in Cumbria to film with professional wildlife cameraman Lee Sutterby. She then returned to her studio in London to draw the 1500 plus frames of the animation and record and mix the sound. The sound was record at the Royal College of Art sound studios and mixed by xxxxxxxx. The final showing of the short film took place at Tullie House, Carlisle in front of an audience of year 5 pupils from local schools.
Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre
|The Suky Best techniques section shows the processes involved in the making of an animation using a rotoscope technique. Suky also records and mixes the sound and adds a computor graphic background to the work.
|Suky Best filmed Influences at the National Media Museum in Bradford which she visited to look specifically at early animation machines like mutoscopes and kinora viewers. Early animations are a particular interest of Suky's and a lot of her early animations revolved around flipbooks. She talks about this interest and how it affects her work as well as visiting the shop to buy mementoes

|The Suky Best questions section was filmed in front of a live audience with Cumbria schools in February 2010. Suky answers questions about her life and work from year 5 and below.
|The Suky Best Gallery shows animations by the artist from previous projects including animations commissioned by the Arts Council of England and xxxxxxx. The main gallery area of Artisancam allows teachers and young people to send in work produced related to the various artists or artforms featured on ArtisanCam.
