You can include ArtisanCam in your teaching in a number of ways, from classroom activities guided by the classroom workshop video clips to research using timelapse, techniques, influences or questions sections or using the interactive online learning tools. Featured artists usually have seven sections and the table below will tell you what you should expect to see:

Intended Learning Outcomes Through using the site, and being encouraged to discuss, reflect on and modify the work they produce, pupils will know, do or understand the following:
  1. identify the materials used in withy sculpture
  2. identify techniques used in withy sculpture
  3. create a sculpture from natural materials using the techniques outlined on the site
  4. explain how they are making their sculpture
  5. comment about their work, showing understanding of whythese materials are used

The large sphere sculpture took four days to make using living green willow. The work has been sold and is now sited in a garden and will continue to grow for up to fifty years. To keep the ball shape in the future new growth will have to be woven in.
techniques
Note that Lizzie is demonstrating the techniques used in making a traditional linen basket and pea climber in her studio. Most of these techniques are also used in her unique sculptural work. Find out more about Lizzie Farey on her website.
influences
Lizzie chose to visit Blackwell Arts and Crafts house in Cumbria. Blackwell was designed by Arts and Crafts architect M H Baillie Scott as a holiday home for Sir Edward Holt, a brewer from Manchester. Blackwell contains a wide range of both art and craft items from the 17th century tocontemporary work, but each relates to the ideals of the Arts and Crafts Movement. classroom workshops

The withy fish workshop uses the following materials:
  1. A bundle of withies
  2. Electrical tape
  3. One bamboo pole
  4. Chicken wire
  5. Newsprint end rolls or sheets
  6. Tissue paper
  7. Wallpaper paste ( fungicide free)
The workshop uses the following tools:
  1. Pliers or wire cutters
  2. Brushes
  3. Buckets
  4. Measuring jug
  5. Scissors
You may also find these things useful:
  1. Aprons
  2. Goggles
  3. Pasting table or wooden top to cover tables
  4. Wire to hang up your sculpture to make it easier to work on
